Robbie played bass with the Irish band LiR until 1994, making two indie albums and touring the US with them.
He then became a session player and recorded albums with Damien Dempsey, Juliet Turner and Mary Coughlan, among many others. In 1997 Robbie joined Hothouse Flowers, and went on to record and tour two albums with them, supporting the Rolling Stones on their European tour.
From 1999 to the present Robbie has worked with David Gray, playing bass, acoustic guitar, double bass and bouzouki, and co-writing songs on the last five David Gray albums which have sold over five million units.
He’s also co-produced the last three albums; two of which have been in the Billboard Top 10 album charts in the US. Over the course of his career, Robbie has played on many world tours with David Gray, and has performed in well-known venues including Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
