Music Business Tutor

After graduating from University College Dublin, Ann Marie worked and travelled in the USA before relocating to London in 1990, lured by the prospect of touring the world with brother Kevin’s band My Bloody Valentine. She coordinated the making of the band’s internationally acclaimed album ‘Loveless’, tour managed them on worldwide tours, and assisted in setting up a professional recording studio in London on their behalf. More recently, she was instrumental in the surprise release of My Bloody Valentine’s long-awaited album ‘m b v’ direct to fans via the band’s own website – a record which received the prestigious status of being named Uncut magazine’s ‘No 1 Album of the Year 2013’.

Outside of My Bloody Valentine, Ann Marie has also made her own mark on the industry. Over the years, she’s tour managed some huge names, including Dinosaur Jr., Martina Topley-Bird, The Telescopes and Laika, as well as undertaking European PR for Mercury Rev. She’s also had her own label imprint – Morpheus – on Warner’s Reprise Records, has coordinated recording sessions for musicians including Marianne Faithful, and has managed artists including Rollerskate Skinny, Laika, Charlotte Hatherley and PJ Harvey producer Rob Ellis.

She launched the film music company Music4Movies with ex-Sleeper guitarist and fellow BIMM tutor, Jon Stewart, and has worked on music for films including the critically acclaimed Joe Meek biopic ‘Telstar’ directed by Nick Moran, Raindance winner ‘Mr. In-Between’ and many more.

Ann Marie runs the label services business Alternative Media Services (AMS), currently partnered with Rumer and her Night Owl Music Media and Art production company and record label, and acts as a new business consultant for Sunshine HQ, an advanced direct-to-fan international e-commerce platform for music sales. She’s also editor of the London hip-hop events guide ‘Whatta Gwan’.

Ann Marie is Head of Events and Guests at BIMM Dublin and is module leader on the Music Publishing and Professional Development units for the BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music degree.
