Brighton only - 12th-16th August

Join us for 5 days of music mayhem!

Every year at BIMM we run a range of Summer Schools for musicians looking to develop their technique and confidence as live performers. So if you're a guitarist, singer, bassist or drummer a BIMM summer school is a fantastic way to spend your break.

The Metal Hammer Summer School runs over 5 days and consists of 4 mornings of dedicated tuition on your instrument, followed by a live performance workshop every afternoon to hone your performance skills on stage guided by your tutors and a different special guest each day. The last day will involve forming bands, rehearsing your favourite track of the week in preparation for an afternoon performance for your friends and family.

Throughout the week at the Metal Hammer Summer School you’ll learn tracks by artists like Rage against the Machine, Metallica, Skindred, Killswitch Engage and System of a Down. Then play what you’ve learnt in our daily live performance workshops. Things are topped off with an awesome end of school gig in front of an audience of friends, family and teaching staff.

You’ll be be taught at our industry standard facilities in Brighton by our expert tutors and have chance to play alongside special guests from the world of metal. In the past we’ve had visits from Mikee Goodman (Sikth), Massimo Fiocco (One Minute Silence), Mikey Demus and Arya Goggin (Skindred) and Neil Cooper (Therapy).

Join up if you want to develop your music skills, have fun, meet like minded metallers, be in a band and perform live. Get involved and have a head-start in your heavy metal career!

Entry Criteria

This programme is open to any one aged 11 and over. You do not need to be an advanced player, although the programme is not suitable for absolute beginners. The programme is geared towards beginners/intermediate, and we suggest the player needs to be comfortable learning a song and then playing in front of their peers.

Career Progression

This programme is designed as in introduction and development course on live performance, practice and technique. Many summer school students choose to apply for a BIMM full time course post GCSE.
