Facilities

BIMM East

This is where it all began in 2001, situated in the legendary Rock Place in Brighton, BIMM East has an atmosphere all of its own.

The building and equipment were upgraded in the Summer of 2009 to meet the needs of our ever expanding drums department and provide a working space for our BA Songwriting module. BIMM East now comprises of 3 teaching spaces; a 700 square foot ground floor live performance room, the main first floor teaching room equipped with 20 Apple Mackintosh workstations (20” IMAC machines with protools 8 LE software and internet connectivity, installed for the BA songwriting module), there is a small room adjacent to the Mac suite on the 1st floor that has been converted into an ‘overdubs’ recording room, and a drum room. The drum room situated on the second floor has been extended. It contains x20 Roland TD12 v-drum kits and a DW Collectors Series maple shell acoustic kit with DW hard ware and Zildjian cymbals.

Each room is kitted out with masses of pro backline including:

Mesa Boogie, Cornford, Marshall, Vox, Fender, Ampeg, Peavey, Hiwatt, Orange, Yamaha + Roland.

BIMM West

Our 8200 sq ft building in Hove's Brunswick Street West first opened its doors to students in October 2005. BIMM West has 9 teaching rooms and a student common room, and is the hub of BIMM Brighton’s activities.

Facilities include:

  • One drum room, kitted out to the same top level as the East drum room, but with 15 TD12 v-drum kits.
  • A 60' live performance room, with full professional quality backline including Marshall, Orange and Hi Watt amps, Peavey PA, DW drums and a Roland RD300SX keyboard.

BIMM House

BIMM House is a converted grade II listed building, formerly the Hove Town Hall. It is situated just a stone’s throw away from BIMM West on the Brighton/Hove border. BIMM acquired and redeveloped this space in 2009. The 7,800 sq ft building is spread over 4 floors and contains 2 x 100 capacity live performance spaces, a digital resource room, 2 large multipurpose teaching rooms, and 2 band tutorial rooms. Both live rooms have gigging standard PA systems, lighting rigs and stages – kitted out with a top level, new and vintage backline. The resource room provides workstations for project work and study whilst the 2 large multipurpose rooms are kitted out with a variety of pro quality equipment.
