What to expect from an Open Day

8 October, 2019

Open days at BIMM Institute are a great opportunity to discover all you need to know about studying with us. You can meet your future lecturers and current students, check out our facilities, pose questions to the college principals, chat to our student support and finance advisors and more. We understand that you may have questions you’d like answered before you set foot into our colleges. So, we’ve put together this list of FAQ’s for quick reference. Please note, this information applies to our UK colleges only.

What can I expect from an Open Day at BIMM Institute?

Lots! Each open day features a 45-minute presentation covering key areas of life at BIMM, such as course options, a financial overview, teaching methods, career paths and more. Plus, you’ll hear talks from lecturers and recent graduates, be treated to a live performance from a current student artist and will be given a full tour of our facilities.

A lecturer from your chosen discipline will also invite you to take part in a masterclass session, to give you a taste of what to expect whilst studying with us.

Lastly, members of our student support and finance teams will also be on hand to answer any questions and ensure you’re fully informed.

Are there Open Days for Diploma courses as well as Degree?

Yes. It’s important to remember that we offer two different types of Open Day. One for Diploma applicants and one for Degree applicants. Please ensure you’re booking yourself onto the correct Open Day for your level of study, as there are some key differences between the two. Of course, if you’re not sure which course level you’d like to study, you’re welcome to attend both events.

Which subjects are represented at Open Days?

All of our course disciplines are represented at Open Days. It’s important however to remember the previous point about Diploma and Degree-level differences to ensure you get the most from the day and receive the right course information.

How do I sign up to attend an open day?

Yes, you’re allowed one guest to accompany you on your visit.

How many colleges are there to choose from?

Are Open Days the same at all BIMM colleges?

Although our Open Day formats are similar across the board, you can expect college-specific details from lecturers, students and graduates who are largely or exclusively based at whichever college you’re visiting. This means you’ll get to pick their brains for local knowledge on things like student accommodation, travel tips, places to go, etc. You can find more college-specific information on our Accommodation page.

How do I choose which BIMM City I should study in?

Choosing which city you’d like to study in can be tough. You might want to choose a college that’s closest to your family home. Alternatively, you might be looking for a complete change of scenery. Whatever thoughts you’re having on college choice, it is recommended you visit as many BIMM cities as possible before deciding, to see which one feels right for you.
