What to expect from an Open Day

Open days at BIMM are a great opportunity to discover all you need to know about studying with us. You can meet your future tutors and current students, check out our facilities, pose questions to the college principals, chat to our student support and finance advisors and more. We understand that you may have questions you’d like answered before you set foot on campus. So, we’ve put together this list of FAQ’s for quick reference. Please note, this information applies to our UK colleges only. We’ll post more for our German and Irish campuses very soon.

What can I expect from an Open Day at BIMM?

Lots! Each open day features a 45-minute presentation covering key areas of life at BIMM, such as course options, a financial overview, teaching methods, career paths and more. Plus, you’ll hear talks from tutors and recent graduates, be treated to a live performance from a current student artist and will be given a full tour of our facilities.

A Tutor from your chosen discipline will also invite you to take part in a masterclass session, to give you a taste of what to expect whilst studying with us.

Lastly, members of our student support and finance teams will also be on hand to answer any questions and ensure you’re fully informed.

Are there Open Days for Diploma courses as well as Degree?

Yes. It’s important to remember that we offer two different types of Open Day. One for Diploma applicants and one for Degree applicants. Please ensure you’re booking yourself onto the correct Open Day for your level of study, as there are some key differences between the two. Of course, if you’re not sure which course level you’d like to study, you’re welcome to attend both events.

Which subjects are represented at Open Days?

All of our course disciplines are represented at Open Days. It’s important however to remember the previous point about Diploma and Degree-level differences to ensure you get the most from the day and receive the right course information.

How do I sign up to attend an open day?

You can only attend an Open Day by signing up for one through our website. Click the appropriate link on this web page, select a campus you’re interested in, choose a date and fill in the booking form. Alternatively, you can book onto an Open Day by contacting our admissions team directly on [email protected] or 08442646666.

Is my place on the open day guaranteed once I’ve completed the booking form online?

No, your submission serves only as a request to attend. You’ll shortly receive contact from our admissions team by phone or email to confirm your attendance.

Can I bring a friend of family member with me?

Yes, you’re allowed up to two guests to accompany you on your visit.

How many campuses are there to choose from?

We have eight campuses in key music cities throughout Europe. These are Brighton, Bristol, London, Manchester, Dublin, Birmingham, Berlin and Hamburg. Please note, the answers to these FAQ’s only apply to our UK colleges.

Are Open Days the same at all BIMM campuses?

Although our Open Day formats are similar across the board, you can expect campus-specific details from tutors, students and graduates who are largely or exclusively based at whichever campus you’re visiting. This means you’ll get to pick their brains for local knowledge on things like student accommodation, travel tips, places to go, etc. You can find more campus-specific information on our Accommodation page.

How do I choose which BIMM City I should study in?

Choosing which city you’d like to study in can be tough. You might want to choose a campus that’s closest to your family home. Alternatively, you might be looking for a complete change of scenery. Whatever thoughts you’re having on campus choice, it is recommended you visit as many BIMM cities as possible before deciding, to see which one feels right for you.

You may also be interested to learn about the BIMM Study Exchange, which allows Degree students to complete the second year of their studies in a different city to the one in which they started out. Discover more here.

What if I’m not able to attend an Open Day?

If you’re unable to attend an Open Day, don’t worry! You can still find plenty of useful information about BIMM cities here on our website. You may also find it helpful to read the many student accounts on each city on the BIMM Blog.

How long does the open day last?

It usually takes around two and a half hours to get the most from our Open Day experience.

How do I find my campus?

You’ll find all travel and public transport information for each of our campuses on our dedicated travel page on our website. Click here for more info.

Important! BIMM campuses do not have dedicated public parking spaces. Please take the opportunity to click the link above and learn where the nearest public parking is located.

What is disabled access like at your campuses?

Each of our UK campuses are fully accessible for wheelchair users. We also understand the importance of providing sufficient access and services for students and visitors with a disability. You can read our full disability guides for each campus here.

When should I arrive at the campus?

You’ll have received information about the Open Day start time via phone or email. You should aim to arrive at campus reception at least ten minutes before the event is due to begin. This will allow us to register your attendance and show you to the correct room to get settled in time for our welcome presentation.

I haven’t applied for a course yet. Am I still able to attend an Open Day?

Of course! You’d don’t have to have officially applied for one of our courses in order to attend an Open Day. But, please bear in mind that certain application deadlines apply if you’re looking to begin studying with us in the next academic year.

How do I apply to BIMM?

For our Degree courses, you will need to apply through UCAS. Information on completing your UCAS Application can be found here
