Watch Game of Thrones' Arya in Gardna's video for 'Sunday'

Student Success

Game of Thrones fans will recognise a familiar face in Gardna‘s latest music video.

The talented MC, a third-year student at BIMM Bristol, has enlisted the help of actress Maisie Williams for his brilliant new track Sunday.

The narrative follows Gardna as he makes his way back home during the early hours of Sunday morning. On his way back, he strolls into a haunted medieval church, where he finds a dark spirit played by Maisie (Arya to fans of the show).

And while the video may be a coming together of two creative spirits, this isn’t the first time the pair have met. The Bristol-born MC went to school with Maisie. The Game Of Thrones actress loved the idea behind the video and was keen to get involved.

“She totally smashed the dark spirit role,” says Gardna. “The shoot was 12 hours long and the church was freezing cold. Sounds horrific, but we all genuinely had such a great day shooting the video. It was a pleasure to work with her on this project, she’d add ideas and was naturally sick at improvising and fitting into her role. ”

The MC also revealed exactly what his well-known co-star thought of the video; he said:

“Maisie personally told me she thinks the video is SICK FAM!”

The track itself was made with the help of hotly tipped producer Kreed and is set for release on Bristol label Boom Sound. An exciting remix of the track is also on the way from Bandulu member Hi5Ghost, who has fused dub, bass and grime for together for the reworked version.

On the subject of how the track came about and its fast turnaround in the studio, Gardna said:

“Kreed came to me with the instrumental for ‘Sunday’ and I wrote my lyrics around the Johnny Osborne sample in it. We had this track written, mixed and mastered in less than two weeks. Madness.”

Sunday‘, directed by Chris Lucas, follows Gardna’s previous releases ‘See The Vibe‘ feat. Tiffani Juno. The track has notched up over 20,000 hits on YouTube, a No.1 spot in the Juno Reggae Chart and has sold over 1,000 vinyl records.

Hard work and originality have been key to Gardna’s success, and we’re immensely proud of his achievements so far.

Speaking about life at BIMM and how the Music Management course has benefited him, Luke said:

“Doing the Music Management course at BIMM has helped me learn a fair few tricks of the trade. You learn what really goes through the mind of a manager and how you should act as one yourself. I apply what I learn at BIMM Bristol in my own practice as Gardna and also with the running of my record label Boom Sound.”

To celebrate the release, Gardna will play two launch parties at Bristol’s The Attic venue (May 28th). Joining him on the night will be fellow collaborators Kreed and Hi5Ghost.

And it’s already looking like a busy year; the MC will be embarking on a summer tour, with dates at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury and Shambala.

“I can’t wait to hand in my dissertation and start my summer tour! The schedule is looking mental; we’re going to be spending a lot of time on the road. I’m mostly looking forward to Glastonbury, BoomTown, Shambala, Eden and Outlook Festival.”

New music is also in the pipeline for the rising star. “I’ll also be releasing music; an EP with Kreed and other tunes with Mr. Benn, Mystic State, Jinx in Dub, Aries and more,” he said.
