The Black Tubes perform at Pride for brand new single release.

Brighton-based trash-punk trio and recent BIMM graduates The Black Tubes have just released their latest single “5 Inch Heels And Skinny Pills”. The track is accompanied by a brilliant video with cameo appearances from infamous drag performers Lydia L’Scabies and Sharon Needles of Ru Paul’s Drag Race fame.

The band have created a powerful yet tongue-in-cheek narrative on the struggle for true gender equality in modern-day Britain, delivered with driving beats, lashings of punk rock guitars and the kind of barbed vocal delivery that Johnny Rotten would be proud of! Check out the video here…

The release coincided with Pride festival which is one of the biggest dates in the Brighton calendar. And the band even graced BIMM’s very first official Pride stage at the Pleasure Gardens.   The video for the single was filmed at Revenge, Brighton’s biggest LGBT club, so it’s only fitting the song has made such a timely debut. Speaking about the gig, singer Robert Clarke had this to say;

‘Pride was absolutely incredible! One of the best gigs we’ve played. We lucked out with the weather and we couldn’t have asked for a lovelier crowd.”
