Student Assists Teenage Cancer Trust Gig at the Royal Albert Hall
A student from BIMM recently assisted with the production of a Teenage Cancer Trust benefit concert at the Royal Albert Hall, which featured headline performances from Rudimental, Take That, Tom Grennan, Doves, The Script and Levellers.
Amelia Myers‘, who is currently studying a BA (Hons) Event Management degree at BIMM Brighton, assisted in the implementation of the concert, fulfilling a work experience role of ‘Music and entertainment intern‘ as part of the college’s official partnership with Teenage Cancer trust.
The annual charity event – which does great work raising awareness and funds for teenagers living with cancer – was originally conceived by Sir Roger Daltrey, legendary frontman of The Who and joint patron of both the charity and BIMM.
Amelia reflected on the experience as being equal parts fun and helpful to her career goals:
“During the event, I was acting as an office assistant. The office was backstage, so I was around the artists and production teams, which was really cool, but I had to remain professional. I was generally just running errands, keeping the office tidy, collecting things for production, signing in the volunteers and collecting merchandise for the teenagers to wear each night.”
She continued: “It was a really great experience to be a part of such a big event: getting to work with great people and being backstage at the Royal Albert Hall was amazing! I enjoyed exploring the venue, watching sound checks and seeing it all come together. It is a really good fundraiser and you get to see the positive affect it has on teenagers living with cancer.”
