Brighton’s Fickle Friends will have notched up close to 100 live appearances by the end of the year, with Reading and Leeds on the approach and a massive UK tour in October. The excitement around the band has reached fever pitch, especially with the release of their brand new critically-acclaimed single ‘Glue’. The talented five-piece is made up of former BIMM Brighton students.
In 2016 they signed a major record deal with Polydor, before outing their brilliant debut single ‘Swim’. The current single, ‘Glue’ has since been playlisted on Radio 1’s C List, and has been making waves within the industry lately; the track was recently Scott Mills’ Record of the Week, and has also received its share of airplay on Radio X.
Musically, ‘Glue’ is everything you’d expect from one of the UK’s most exciting new bands: indie sensibilities meet electro and synth pop for a dazzling mix that will fill dance floors this summer – even legendary garage producer MJ Cole has produced a remix!
The song is a must-listen for fans of Haim and The Maccabees and a real statement of intent from the band. Even more impressive is the fact that they wrote it in one afternoon. Speaking to music blog The 405, lead singer Natti said:
“After signing we ended up doing a bunch of obligatory writing sessions, and nothing came from them… the more we got asked to do them, the more frustrated we became. In the end, we were like ‘GAH WE CAN WRITE OUR OWN POP TUNE.”
So, what can fans expect next? Fickle Friends will hit the road this October for a major UK tour, taking in Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and London. Elsewhere, the band are applying the finishing touches to their highly-anticipated debut album, which features Mike Crossey on production [Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, The 1975, Wolf Alice, Two Door Cinema Club].
Watch this space – this band are going to be huge!
