Luna Bay Playlisted on Radio 1

5 March, 2018

BIMM London graduate band Luna Bay have been proving themselves worthy of a mass audience recently with primetime airplay on BBC Radio 1. The mainstream broadcaster picked-up Luna Bay’s latest single “Little Amsterdam” for BBC Introducing’s Track Of The Week thanks to the groups’ continued hard graft.

The brilliant news comes in the wake of a series of other successes for the band in 2017, including numerous single releases, Spotify Playlistings, magazine features and live appearances at YNOT and Truck Festivals.

The band’s guitarist Rye Milligan explains how it felt to get playlisted on one of the UK’s biggest radio stations.

“So, finding out we’d landed the BBC Introducing’s Track of the Week recently was just madness. We’d been put on the BBC Radio Wales’ playlist a short time before (thanks to my welsh roots), so thanks to the incredible BBC Introducing team, welsh presenters & producers from BBC Radio Wales. Their work behind the scenes helped push our single ‘Little Amsterdam’ to Radio 1.

A big thanks also goes to Adam Walton, Bethan Elfyn, Huw Stephens, Kelly Betts, Vicki Blight and the rest of the BBC Radio Wales crew for the part they played in getting us the spot. Our manager Ben Karter also had a great deal to do with securing us these playlists. Massive thanks to him for all his behind-the-scenes power housing!

We had a great response from the playlist, with people reaching out to us via Twitter. We received messages like :

But the best part 100%, was getting messages and videos off our friends, with them showing an equal level of excitement as us with all the spins.

On behalf of Luna Bay, I’d like to dedicate the Radio 1 plays to our fallen brother Will Acres. Connor and I met at his flat during freshers in our first year of uni. Without that meeting, we wouldn’t be here. “

The Radio 1 playlisting is an incredibly positive sign that Luna Bay are ready to compete with established acts on a national scale. We’re sure it’s an indication of bigger and better things on the horizon for the band.
