From blowing up on hype machine to being our Track of the Week, ‘Lights’ from producer LUCASV (featuring Tequisha) is one electronic smash that is really not to be missed…

What was the inspiration behind your track?
I was just messing around with on the piano, playing some jazz and I found the chords, it just took off from there.

What did your songwriting process involve?
For Lights I started with the piano chords and a drum beat; I have Jazz and Hip Hop influences so after this went straight to the bass and it just flowed from there. When it came to the vocals and lyrics of the track, I chose to work with Tequisha. We’ve worked with each other before and our styles compliment each other well so it just made sense to collaborate again.

What things do you do differently to other bands?
I like switching things up, with Lights I go from smooth airy sounds to a trap beat, one soundscape to another.

Can you describe your sound in three words?
Chill, Waves, Trap.

What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
Having good tutors and access to good studios and equipment.

What’s the best bit of music advice you’ve been given?
To listen to yourself. Never make a track with the goal of it being a hit, make music to sound good.

What’s next for you?
EP in 2017 and of course gigging around Brighton and Paris.
