It’s been a year of steady, impressive breakthroughs for BIMM London graduate Izzy Bizu — in fact it’s hard to pick a highlight!
Like Brighton student Joe Dolman, Izzy wowed the music industry crowd at Music Week’s RADAR event with her jazzy, soulful songs. She was scouted by the long-standing talent-spotters ILUVLIVE.
Her sparkling, summery song ‘White Tiger’ had well over a quarter of a million views online, and support slots for none other than Sam Smith quickly followed, exposing her songs to a huge audience.
Izzy then won a spot at Glastonbury Festival through their Emerging Talent Competition, and she played a great gig in the sunshine on the BBC Introducing Stage.
After her blistering Glastonbury performance, Izzy caught the eyes of some of the biggest Radio 1 DJs and subsequently grabbed a load of support from Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Huw Stephens to name only a few!
Maybe after all this success and positivity, it was inevitable that Izzy would end up with a record deal. This duly arrived in August, when she signed for the huge Sony offshoot, Epic.
What an ending to a fabulous year. Congratulations on all your hard work Izzy, we can’t wait to see what 2015 brings when your album is released!
