Help Refugees With Tom Odell & Friends

20 November, 2017

BIMM alumnus Tom Odell has announced that he will play an intimate one-off show to help raise money for refugees in Calais, Greece, Syria and beyond for the charity, Help Refugees.

The Brit Award-winning singer will host the show and perform – along with some special guests – at the annual Help Refugees’ Christmas bash, which will take place at the Jazz Café in London on Thursday 14 December.

Tom has been working with the Help Refugees for 18 months and had this to say:

“I went to Calais last year, to the Jungle, because I wanted to see it with my own eyes and it really shocked me. You always read about it in newspapers and online, and you almost fictionalise it. Going down there made me realise how real it was.”

In just two years, Help Refugees has grown from a small group of friends into an internationally respected non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the refugee sector for those displaced by war in Europe and more.

Tom will be pulling in a few favours to add some other big names to the line-up for the fundraising gig and may even perform his cover of John Lennon’s ‘Real Love’ from the 2014 John Lewis Christmas TV advert. It’s the perfect opportunity, as he explained:

“I always skirt around the idea of playing that song live, but it will be close enough to Christmas that I’ll forgive myself for it.”
