Ever dreamed of running your own festival? That’s exactly what Event Management graduate Patrick McNaught did whilst studying at BIMM Brighton. ‘Washed Out Festival’ is an annual multi-venue celebration of all things punk, emo, hardcore and indie. And Patrick’s exemplary work directing it earned him the BIMM Brighton Enterprise and Business Award, 2018.
After racking up valuable experience as a member of the press team at award-winning alternative music festival, Slam Dunk, Event Management graduate Charlie Lowe went on to become the Social Media Manager for Brighton & Hove’s Pride Festival. The event sees 300,000 visitors and partygoers descending upon Brighton and Hove each summer.
Whilst studying an Event Management degree, Anna could regularly be found assisting and co-ordinating at BIMM’s in-house events such as End of Term Gigs, plus handling advancing for the college’s songwriting showcases.
After graduating, Anna secured a full-time position as Agent and Music Touring Assistant with CAA, one of the biggest live agents in world whose roster includes the likes of JP Cooper, Daft Punk, AC/DC, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran.
Event Management undergraduate Robin Watts has held positions as a Studio Manager at Trickstar Radio, Social Media and Marketing Manager at the Loft Sessions, Founder of his own promotions company Drum Safari, Social Media Assistant at Boundary Festival, Stage Technician/Assistant at the Great Escape Festival and his current role as Marketing Assistant at independent drum ‘n’ bass record label Shogun Audio.
Whilst studying her Event Management degree, Napsugár gained valuable work experience behind the scenes on the BIMM festival work experience program, in which students are given important roles at various live music events each summer including 2000Trees, Glastonbury, Arctangent and The Great Escape.
Having also gained work experience at 13 Artists, Bardócz now works as a Coordinator at the UK & European Guild of Music Supervisors as well as an Artist Manager for fellow BIMM performance graduate Miles Goodall.
Suzi Ireland and Nicky Kingsbury-Williams are members of BIMM’s careers hub and festival outreach teams, who are on-hand to facilitate fantastic opportunities to engage with the music industry during your time at BIMM.
