Mark Bowers, BIMM Bristol’s Head of Industry and Careers, recently began heading up a brand new artist management wing of Crosstown Concerts alongside fellow BIMM Industry and Event Management tutor Cliff Jones.
With offices in Bristol and London, Crosstown started out as a joint venture in concert promotion and record label services between long established promoters Conal Dodds, Paul Hutton (formerly of Metropolis Music) and Fraser Duffin.
Since its inception in 2016, the company has been responsible for a wealth of live music events from artists as varied as Pixies, Kano, Seasick Steve, M83, PJ Harvey, Super Furry Animals, Savages, Explosions In The Sky and Billy Talent. Perhaps most notably, the company established the 30,000 capacity Downs Festival, which first launched in the Bristol Downs with a homecoming show from Trip Hop pioneers Massive Attack.
Crosstown’s new management wing will focus on nurturing new talent and will add a valuable extension to the company’s already impressive track record. Speaking on the coalition, Mark said;
“I have worked with Conal Dodds and Paul Hutton for many years, so to partner with them at Crosstown in launching this new management arm is very exciting. We are focusing on the development of new talent so having the direct link through to live tours and the Crosstown label will be amazing for the acts we work with”.
Most recently, Mark has been working hotly tipped BIMM Bristol graduate Keir, who has just announced his first headline UK tour with his new single ‘Night & Day’.
