BIMM Dublin and Manchester Album

22 May, 2015

BIMM Dublin and BIMM Manchester share the release of their 2015 compilation album this month.

The tracks for the compilation were selected and compiled from over 140 original demos, submitted from students at both colleges. The final track-listing has eight tracks from BIMM Manchester artists and twelve from BIMM Dublin. The final selection was made by a panel of A&R music industry professionals and were voted for by students at both campuses.

The winning demo tracks were then recorded at the BIMM Dublin Studios & 80 Hertz Studios Manchester and were produced and engineered by Ciaran Bradshaw, Michael Heffernan and Stephen Dunne. They  were also professionally mixed by Ciaran Bradshaw at The Other Woman Studios and mastered by Fergal Davis, topping off an incredible experience for our students.

Briggy Smale Head of Careers, Industry Liaison & Guests and Live Events at BIMM Manchester said:

“54 demos were received by students spanning all courses, diploma and degrees. An internal panel consisting of lecturers and 2 music business students whittled the tracks down to 15 which were then sent to 10 high profile industry professionals including Sony/Columbia A&R, Head of Music at Radio 1 and XFM, performers, producers, publishers and radio DJs. Some fantastic feedback was received.”

80 Hertz provided a stunning and creative environment with their Abbey Road, Studio 3-inspired room and knowledgeable and supportive staff.  The icing on the cake was the unfathomable skills of BIMM Dublin’s fabulous producer, Ciaran Bradshaw.  Having worked closely with all of the acts, this has been a brilliant opportunity for them all to enhance their sounds, experience and professionalism.”

Shauna Watson BIMM Dublin Events and Guests described how they made their choices:

“The team in BIMM Dublin received 190 demo tracks for this year’s album — over double the submissions since last year! There were some incredible stuff submitted that not only blew us away, but also impressed our external music industry panel. We hope the students are as proud of the album as we are and the finished product is definitely indicative of the serious talent here in Dublin.”

Winning BIMM Manchester artist Charlotte Cannon said:

“To have my musical tomfoolery on the BIMM album is unbelievable. I’m so grateful to have had this sort of opportunity and to have worked with such cool and professional people. Well done to all the other artists too for making this such a groovy and diverse album!”

Taylor Maslanka, of BIMM Dublin said:

“Recording an original song for the BIMM album was fantastic. I got to have fun with my friends, meet new people and experience working in a professional environment. Ultimately, it felt great to have something you had a huge creative input in, representing the college.”

Farah Elle, of BIMM Dublin told us:

“It was an enjoyable experience, exciting because I’d never done it before and fulfilling for me as a writer too because I could expand on my ideas properly with vocal ideas and layers. It was also kind of emotional because I got to create this thing exactly how I imagined it and obviously the song is deep and close to my heart so I got a little teary eyed listening to the rough mix just because I was really proud.”

We might have got a little teary eyed ourselves…

The 20 track album of original songs will be released as a beautiful CD and digitally via iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Deezer, 24–7, 7digital, Amazon MP3 and Xbox Music.
