Two BIMM graduates are currently in the running for Music Radar and Rhythm Magazine’s Best Drummer awards, 2018.
Graduates from different BIMM campuses are currently battling it out with some of the best drummers from around the world for the highly regarded ‘Best Drummer’ awards in association with Music Radar and Rhythm Magazine.
The news serves to highlight the high level of professionalism achieved by the majority of performance students at BIMM, many of whom go on to achieve great careers once graduating. Let’s take a look at the nominees!
Oli Wiseman, who graduated BIMM some years ago, has been playing alongside MTV Music Video Award-winner Anne-Marie, a role which has seen him supporting Ed Sheeran on his current European tour, as well as earning him a nomination for Best Session Drummer, 2018. Oli is also associated with big name drum brands such as Zildjian, Protection Racket, Tama, Roland, Vic Firth and Remo, and is up against the likes of Ralph Rolle, Karl Brazil, Jonathan Ginger Hamilton and Tom Meadows for the award.
Next up on the list of drumming successes is BIMM Bristol graduate Jon Beavis, who is the rhythmic powerhouse behind current punk superstars and recent masterclass guests, IDLES. Jon’s incredible work with the band has seen him touring the world and entering the top 10 with their critically acclaimed current LP ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’, as well as earning him a nomination for ‘Best Rock Drummer’. Idles have been working incredibly hard this year, with highlights including festival performances, an appearance on ‘Later…with Jools Holland’ and earning themselves a Q Award for ‘Best Breakthrough Act’.
Voting closes at midnight on November 15th, with the winners for each category being announced shortly afterwards.
Good luck to Oli and Jon!
