Applications for the BIMM Artist Fund now open

27 July, 2018

We’ve been taking an active role in developing and championing our most talented former students – through initiatives like BIMM Connect – for a long time. Now we’re excited to announce the second round of The BIMM Artist Fund, which will benefit BIMM graduates who are gaining industry traction but need the financial support to enable them to progress further.

Previous winners of the fund include Orchards, Island Club, Wild State, Thyla, Luna Bay, RAHH, Cronicle, Junodream, Wastefellow, Fontaines D.C, Columbia Mills, and Elm.

Being the UK and Europe’s leading provider of music education, we know financial matters shouldn’t stop anyone from realising their full potential. That’s why we’re offering grants and seed funding of up to £1,000 to assist former students in their development. Our aim is – as it’s always been – to make sure our best and brightest advance from a local to a national stage, as many past students have done (James Bay, George Ezra, Izzy Bizu, Tom Odell, etc.).

Similar to other successful schemes – such as PRS Momentum, Open Fund and the Music Export Growth Scheme – the BIMM Artist Fund will make a positive impact by giving our graduates the freedom, tools and financial independence they need to create. The fund can be used for anything from recording and mixing, to attending showcase events – this includes Brighton’s Great Escape Festival and the Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg, near the site of our latest BIMM college.

So, how can you apply and take advantage of this brilliant opportunity? The BIMM Artist Fund will be open for applications three times a year and you must be a graduate in order to apply. These applications will then be reviewed by each college, who will award the funding if you’re successful.

It’s really that simple. To be considered, you need only show a clear plan of progression and demonstrate industry traction. This could be through a growing live fanbase, streaming music online, having listeners and social media followers, radio or press support, label management, publishing or agent interest. From there, the decision of how best to use the fund is yours.

To apply, log in to BIMM Connect, head over to the ‘groups section’ and complete the form relevant to the BIMM college you graduated from. You’ll find further details, including application dates and full criteria, below.
