This week we kicked off the first term of the second year at BIMM Birmingham!
With an exciting year behind us – which saw Tony Iommi officially open the college, masterclasses from Sid Wilson (Slipknot), Nuno Bettencourt (Guitarist: Extreme, Rihanna), Lower Than Atlantis, Ralph Rolle (Drummer: Chic) and Chris Johnson (Drummer: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Madonna) to name just a few, plus three incredible End of Term gigs at some of Birmingham’s most iconic venues (The Sunflower Lounge, The Flapper and The Castle and Falcon) – it’s now time to look forward to what this next year has in store.
As part of our new cohort, we have welcomed both Diploma and Degree students – as well as introducing Event Management and Music Journalism to our course offerings.
Our Induction event last week helped kick off what life at BIMM will be like for our new students, with a great showcase of student talent from Hunger Moon and our House Band – and an inspiring and insightful masterclass from Dave Rowntree, Drummer for the legendary band Blur. He also took the time to meet everyone at the event, and share a little bit of wisdom amongst the group!
In the next few weeks we’ll see our brand new, state of the art, studio opening up in the college, this will offer our students even more opportunities to develop their skills.
As the college continues to grow, so our connection with the music industry here in Birmingham grows ever stronger, and we’re excited to train the future musicians, producers, journalists and music industry professionals who will develop their craft in a diverse and exciting city.
