Nile Rodgers – Chic
In March 2017, our BIMM London students were treated to this incredible Masterclass at London’s Bush Hall with Chic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Nile Rodgers, along with drummer Ralph Rolle and bassist Jerry Barnes – also legends in their own right!
Nick Mason – Pink Floyd
In March 2016, drummer and founding member of Pink Floyd, Nick Mason, joined BIMM London for an in-depth Masterclass chatting about the early days of Pink Floyd, his legendary career and offering brilliant music industry advice to our students.
Grammy and Ivor Novello award winning artist and producer Imogen Heap visited BIMM Bristol to talk in-depth about how she first started out in the industry, her creative process and how she built her own recording studio from scratch. She even went on to explain how she’s blazing a trail for musicians and artists with Blockchain – a revolutionary digital currency which allows for easier transactions for freelancers.
Brian May – Queen
They don’t come much bigger than Queen guitar hero, Brian May, who popped in to BIMM Brighton for a highly memorable Masterclass session in August 2015. He chatted to our students about his extraordinary career with Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and, more recently, Adam Lambert… and even visited BIMM Bristol the following month too!
Graham Coxon – Blur
BIMM Brighton students were thrilled to have Blur guitarist, Graham Coxon, visit them in May 2014 for an exclusive Masterclass, where he discussed his solo work, rivalry with Oasis and even treated the audience to a few tunes on his guitar.
Jo paid a visit to BIMM London to give a brilliant masterclass as one of BBC radio’s longest serving female DJ’s. She gave tips on how to critically observe your peers and idols in order to improve your stagecraft and told some great stories of working with world famous musicians such as Jay Z.
Tony Iommi – Black Sabbath
Who better to host our new college BIMM Birmingham’s first Masterclass session than local boy Tony Iommi – the lead guitarist and founding member of legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Tony had a Q&A with an audience of very lucky BIMM Birmingham students who started at the college in October.
Chuck D – Public Enemy
BIMM Brighton students learned first hand that you should believe the hype surrounding hip-hop icon and Public Enemy rapper, Chuck D, who visited the college in June 2014 along with Brother James of Public Enemy’s famed security team, the S1Ws. The pair hosted a very special Q&A Masterclass ahead of their sold-out show with The Prodigy at the Concorde 2.
The Edge – U2
BIMM Dublin final year students were given a graduation ceremony they’ll never forget when they were joined on the day by U2 guitarist The Edge. He presented them with an inspirational speech offering sage advice and wishing them the best of luck in their future music careers.
Scottish singer songwriter KT Tunstall launched her career in 2004 with the release of her debut LP, “Eye To The Telescope”. Since then, she’s been nominated for a Mercury Music prize, has become a Brit and Ivor Novello award winner and has even diversified into writing music for film. She spoke candidly about her early days pursuing a career in music, her positive experiences on the busking scene in the U.S and her views on the current state of music education.
So, if you’d like to rub shoulders with the world’s greatest musicians while they visit your classroom, then BIMM is most definitely the place for you… because our Masterclasses are nothing short of legendary!
