Fees & Finances

Everything you need to know

We’re dedicated to giving our students the best value music education possible – which means accessing our globally successful first-rate tutors in a dedicated location at the epicentre of the local music industry…not to mention the option of spending a year studying at another BIMM College in the UK or Berlin.

Such cutting-edge facilities can be expensive, but we make sure all BIMM courses are great value for money and offer qualifying students a variety of financial support initiatives like bursaries and scholarships – representing a practical and affordable investment for your future career in the music industry.

At BIMM we’re determined to offer our students exceptionally good value for money. All BIMM three-year undergraduate degree courses are priced at £7,650 for UK and EU students, £1,600 less than many UK universities.

Student finance is available to eligible students for all BIMM undergraduate degree courses. Tuition Fee Loans will cover the full course fee and Maintenance Loans are available to eligible UK students to help with living costs while studying.*

For students to be eligible for funding from Student Finance England, they must be studying on an eligible course at a provider registered with the Office for Students (OfS). The OfS is the new independent regulator for higher education in England and all higher education providers need to register with the OfS for their students to be eligible for student support in the 2019-20 academic year. The OfS will start publishing providers on its Register from July 2018.

BIMM has made an application to register with the OfS. No provider will be able to confirm whether student support is available until it has a decision from the OfS. Visit officeforstudents.org.uk for more information.

*Listed course fees and student finance information apply to students who are enrolling on an undergraduate degree course in 2019/20.

Students from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales should select the appropriate link for finance:

Northern Ireland: studentfinanceni.co.uk

Scotland: saas.gov.uk

Wales: studentfinancewales.co.uk

EU students may be able to get a student loan to cover tuition costs. If you’re an EU student, information on how to apply can be found at: direct.gov.uk/studentfinance (please select ’students from other EU countries’).

If you are an EU student applying to our UK colleges, see our update on Brexit.

BIMM is dedicated to helping musicians and songwriters develop their skills, talents and self-confidence, while gaining a nationally recognised Further or Higher Education qualification. Every academic year, we’re able to offer a limited number of scholarships and bursaries to talented and dedicated applicants and students who are in financial hardship.

These are suitable for candidates on any level of course, however, ideally for those courses incurring fees.

EMI MUSIC SOUND FOUNDATION BURSARY

(Available to current Brighton, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and London students only)

EMI Music Sound Foundation is an independent music education charity established in 1997 to celebrate the Centenary of EMI Records and to improve young peoples’ access to music education in the UK. Its patrons include Sir Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Yoko Ono and Diana Ross. Naturally, it’s a huge honour for BIMM to be chosen to receive bursary funding as part of an elite band of music education centres, which also includes The Birmingham Conservatoire and The Royal Academy of Music.

In 2015, EMI Music Sound Foundation offered an annual bursary of £10,000, this was made available to current BIMM students across BIMM colleges in the UK. The bursary amount will be split between 8-10 students who will be continuing their studies at BIMM in 2019/20.

The bursary can be put towards your course fees, or you can receive the money directly to help with your living costs while studying (the funds will be paid by the end of your first term of study).

If you’d like further information regarding the bursary, please visit: www.emimusicsoundfoundation.com

The criteria in order to be considered are as follows. You must:
• Be a current BIMM student
• Be aged between 19 and 24 on the 31st August 2019
• Be a UK national
• Be in financial hardship
• Have good studentship

It’s important that your application form for this bursary is completed thoroughly, so if you require assistance with your submission, please feel free to get in touch.
