Senior Lecturer, Music Pedagogy in Practice *

Tim is a highly experienced performer and educator. He is the Senior Lecturer for Music Pedagogy in Practice at BIMM Music Institute London, a course that is focused on development, learning and teaching in music - subjects that every musician is constantly engaged in as they develop throughout their lifetime.

Alongside his work at BIMM, Tim is a trombone player. He has been the featured trombone player for seminal British ska band The Specials since 2009, and has toured worldwide with them, in addition to performing on their no.1 album Encore, live recordings and live DVD. He additionally holds the trombone chair on The Book of Mormon in the West End, and has also played on Legally Blonde, La Cage Aux Folles, Chicago and Wicked. Other freelance playing work includes Jamie Cullum, Rag ’n’ Bone Man, The Kooks, The Dandy Warhols, Prince Buster, The Bays, Pete Tong, Goldie, and Tim Minchin.

Tim is currently studying for a PhD at the UCL Institute of Education, as well as working as an academic writer and education consultant, and as a workshop leader for a number of organisations including Magdala Opera, Oxford Philomusica, the Grand Union Orchestra and the Education Group. He also runs a musicians cricket team in London.
