Rory studied a BMus in Composition at The Royal Academy Of Music London, followed by an MA in Composing For Film and Television at Kingston University London, before becoming a professional composer, performer and educator.
As a composer, he’s written original music for feature films, shorts, documentaries, TV shows, dance shows, theatre shows and radio shows. Alongside this, he’s been commissioned to write concert hall music for choirs, orchestras and ensembles, as well as a stream of advertising commercial work for TV and radio.
As a performer, Rory took up the Irish flute and uilleann pipes to create Cuillin Music with Martyn Bennett, and toured the world. Also an accomplished cellist, he’s played, toured and recorded with many artists, including The Divine Comedy and the Dublin Chamber Orchestra. As an educator, he’s been a composition teacher for several decades and has been central to the creation of some of the most exciting music courses in Dublin.
