Dan Mckinna

Head of Academic Studies

Dan is Head of Academic Studies at BIMM Music Institute Brighton. He is a bass guitarist and double bass player with a wealth of experience including world tours, major festivals, multiple recording and songwriting credits, and TV and radio appearances.

He has been a member of Tindersticks for the last ten years, recording and co-writing five albums and six film soundtracks, the latest starring Robert Pattinson.

He is also a session musician for a wide range of artists working with James Morrison, Ben's Brother, and most recently Alfie Boe, among many others. He has previously toured and recorded several albums as a member of signed bands, including Straw (Sony) and The Jeevas (with Crispian Mills).

Dan is also a published researcher in popular music, exploring live performance and collaborative creativity.
