LEI JENNINGS CO-FOUNDS 1990 CLUB

BIMM Manchester Songwriting Degree graduate Lei Jennings has launched his own songwriting collective known as the “1990 Club”.

Lei graduated in 2017, having garnered plenty of valuable experience working under the guidance of A-list songwriter Mark Hadfield (Iggy Azalea, Ne-Yo). Since moving-on, Lei has set up his own song-writing collective, who have already worked with the likes Laura White, X Factor 2016 finalist Relley.C with her debut single “Unruly”, Bristolian house duo Blonde and The Voice winner (2015) Kevin Simm to name just a few.

Despite the immediate success of the songwriting collective, Lei still has his sights set firmly on the future, and recently began studying a PGCE teaching qualification.

Here’s what Lei had to say about his approach to songwriting and his experience here at BIMM.

‘Songwriting for other artists isn’t just about the music, it’s also about relationships, consistency and resilience. BIMM helped me to develop these qualities and provided me with the tools I needed for my future. Since leaving, I have started my PGCE within music teaching, while also co- founding  ‘The 1990 Club’ where we songwrite and produce for many new and established artists.’
