Jack Bonney

Sound Technician

Jack studied the Live Sound and Tour Production diploma at BIMM Music Institute Brighton. He spent time networking and constantly building up his list of industry connections. While studying, he was employed as an in-house sound engineer for a few venues in Brighton and worked for a local touring company as a driver, sound engineer, and part of their production crew.

Eager to gain as much experience as possible, Jack set up a small promotions company in Brighton where he would put on and engineer shows for several local and touring bands in different venues around the city. This gave him the confidence he needed to put himself forward for some bigger and better roles, including managing and engineering a stage at Brighton’s The Great Escape festival, working at the Sundance London and Country to Country festivals at The O2 in London, and running a small stage at the 2014 Brit Awards.
As a student, his name was put forward as a potential tour manager for American artist Stephen Kellogg on his UK headline tour – he got the gig, did a great job, and continued to work with him on tours in the UK and Europe ever since.

Since Jack graduated in 2014, he spends a lot of his time working with the band Public Service Broadcasting as their monitor engineer. The London-based duo are multi-instrumentalists playing the guitar, banjo, drums, and piano. They are well-known for sampling old public information films, archive footage, and propaganda material, using them as the basis for their music, which somehow manages to sound retro and futuristic at the same time.

Jack and the band supported The Kaiser Chiefs on their UK arena tour, playing in venues including The Brighton Centre and London’s The O2. Public Service Broadcasting then embarked on their own headline tour of the UK and Europe, of which many venues were sold-out.

2016 saw Jack become monitoring engineer for English-Irish singer, songwriter, and rapper Maverick Sabre, followed by The Xcerts (whom he also tour managed) and now, even Toploader.

Jack has carved a career in a demanding field, and we wish him continued success!
