Somerset House is the impressive backdrop for a series of unplugged music sessions happening all this week, as the spectacular London location hosts a 5-day long live music programme, with BIMM artists representing a major part of the line-up.
The Unplugged Sessions 2016: Summer Series begins today at London’s famously grand riverside building, where audiences can catch ten hand-picked up and coming artists performing live lunchtime sessions, outdoors in central London, and all for free!
BIMM artists make up 4 of the 10 chosen acts, with talented performers representing from our Bristol, London, Manchester and Dublin campuses. The musicians will each play one-off stripped back acoustic sets on the beautiful Edmond J. Safra Court, one of the city’s most impressive courtyards with its famous plaza fountains.
Here are the four BIMM artists set to play the Unplugged Sessions:
Chay Snowdon of BIMM Bristol plays contemporary rock n roll that mixes original 50s vibes with a more modern indie-rock sensibility for something that’s heartfelt and unique.
It’s a hometown gig for Katya DJ of BIMM London. Katya’s melding of folk and jazz is proving popular out on the London live circuit and will no doubt be a hit at Somerset House too.
Carl North of Carl North and the Lonely Hearts heads down from BIMM Manchester and will be taking along his own blend of Americana, Rhythm & Blues and Soul for the live London crowds.
Last but not least, Leila Jane is winging her way from the BIMM Dublin campus. Her music is inspired by Delta Blues and American folk, perfect for a soulful summer day by the river Thames.
If you’re in central London, head to Somerset House and support BIMM talent. The gigs begin at 12.40pm each day so treat yourself to some free music, and be sure to share your pics. See you by the river!
