It’s the new year, It’s a new week, which can only mean one thing… a brand spanking new Track of the Week. This time, from Manchester Indie outfit – Mister Twisted.
What was the inspiration behind your track?
Living in the city and having that ‘after-party’ feeling the day after a night out, mixed with frustration.
What did your songwriting process involve?
It started with a simple chord progression, and a big grunge riff, then putting them together and writing the lyrics in 10 minutes. Doing all this whilst thinking about juxtaposing the vocal melody.
What things do you do differently to other bands?
We write constantly, and take inspiration from things and people that happen in our lives. By using our daily lives and scenarios as a base to all of our songs it allows us to write music constantly. Our sound is not something you hear all the time, we make our music stand out from the sea of music around us.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
Evolving, Experimenting, Intoxicating
Have you channeled any artist in particular on this track?
Nirvana, Oasis, Pixies, lots of punk influences, and Dusty Springfield.
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
Networking with other people passionate about music. Also being able to work with tutors that have so much relevant advice and experience that is extremely valuable to us all as musicians.
What’s the best bit of music advice you’ve been given?
‘Make sure you have a story to tell within and around your music.’
What’s next for you?
Next we are planning on finishing an album and maybe releasing a couple of singles along the way.
Mainly we will be gigging in 2017 and hopefully playing some festivals too.
