Manchester’s Corella Make This Morning TV Debut

2 August, 2017

Over 700,000 people tune into This Morning every weekday, making it one of the UK’s most watched daytime shows. So you can imagine our excitement when we heard that ‘Barcelona Girl’, the brand new track from Manchester band Corella, had been featured on the programme with three members from BIMM Manchester.

It all came about when Corella’s manager, Nick got in touch with the producers at This Morning who instantly loved the track and decided to sync it on the show for a summer fashion VT. See it here!

‘Barcelona Girl’ takes inspiration from early Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees – among other contemporaries. The video itself was actually filmed on-location in Barcelona.

Corella comprises of BIMM Manchester students Joel Smith, Ben Henderson, James Fawcett, and Jack Taylor, who studies at a nearby college. Together they are taking the indie world by storm, having already received airplay on UK radio, including, BBC Introducing Manchester and Imagine FM. The band have also been the subject of several glowing reviews and press features, and have recently enjoyed exposure on Emerging North and The National Student magazine.

On top of this, Corella have been included on several Spotify-curated playlists like ‘The Indie List’ (162k followers) and ‘Hot New Bands’ (32k followers), both of which serve as a beacon for new music discovery.

Sharing his love for the track, TNS’s Alex Graham, wrote:

“Not only is ‘Barcelona Girl’ yet another sprightly polished tune from the rising indie-pop quartet, but it is also one that possesses the coveted resplendence required to have toes tapping and arms swaying from the first note to the last.”

Corella’s story has all the makings of a band destined for great things. Personable and talented, they are breaking through with a sound that is both infectious and popular; ‘Barcelona Girl’ sounds just as good on daytime national TV and radio, as the indie disco.

On the subject of live performances, Corella’s year has also been peppered with a host of huge live appearances at some of the UK’s best independent festivals, among them: TruckFest, the Blackthorn Music Festival, Tramlines, and Y Not Festival.

Missed out? Fear not. The band are also due to play Edinburgh Fringe on Saturday 12 August, and Ramsbottom’s Head for the Hills Festival on Saturday 16 September – alongside Maximo Park and The Stranglers. But if you can’t make it to the Lancashire beauty spot, you’ll be able to catch the band on their first-ever UK tour in October, which includes a massive headline date at Manchester Academy 3 on Saturday 14 October.

‘Barcelona Girl’ is out now on Spotify and Apple Music. Check out the video here or visit the band’s socials for tickets, merchandise, or to buy the track.
