BIMM IS ‘EDUCATION PARTNER’ FOR HEAVY MUSIC AWARDS

Here at BIMM, we’re thrilled to be able to announce that we’ve teamed up with the Heavy Music Awards (HMAs) and are honoured to have been appointed as their ‘Education Partner’.

The awards, to be held on Thursday 24th August, are a celebration of amazing achievements in heavy music, and on the night only the best of the best will be triumphant.

BIMM students have so much to be excited about, as they’ll be offered the opportunity to get involved behind the scenes at the Heavy Music Awards. As a college, we’ve always had strong ties to the heavy music scene, and the genre is covered across all our courses, including Performance, Songwriting, Music Production, Music Business, Event Management, Live Sound and Music Journalism. In fact, BIMM graduates working within the heavy music scene include members of Architects, Periphery, The Xcerts and As Lions.

Andy Pritchard from the HMAs spoke about the connection between BIMM and the Awards, saying: “This is the beginning of a great new partnership between two organisations who share ethics.”

He continued: “An important part of the Awards’ ethos is to support upcoming artists, bands, producers and songwriters in the heavy music scene and this chimes perfectly with BIMM’s rich history of nurturing great talent.”

Leo Nicholas, BIMM’s Head of Industry Liaison and Careers, said: “Partnering with the Heavy Music Awards is testament to BIMM’s rounded attitude to genre, offering students from a multitude of musical backgrounds and preferences, a place to hone their craft. Standing shoulder to shoulder with these publicly-voted awards, dedicated to all things HEAVY, couldn’t exemplify this more!”

Nominees at the HMAs are chosen by a panel of respected and knowledgeable music industry representatives, and those acts with the most nominations are declared as Finalists. The public can then vote for the overall winners once public voting opens on Monday 22nd May. To be in the know about HMA voting, keep a firm eye on the HMA website.
