BIMM Berlin’s End-of-Term Gig is the Best Yet!

1 August, 2016

As the first ever year of classes at BIMM Berlin drew to a close, our students were getting ready for one of the best nights of their lives – the BIMM Berlin End-of-Term Gig!

Held at Kreuzberg’s Privatclub – only a short walk from BIMM Berlin – the gig was hosted by the college’s Head of Live Performance, Shon Abram, and was a brilliant opportunity for our hugely talented students to show an audience of friends, family and industry personnel (including Nineteen95 Management, Hitnation and Star FM) just how hard they’ve been working all year.

You can see for yourself what an amazing event it was for all involved by watching the highlights of the night here:

Students from across all the BIMM Berlin Degree courses took part, with Performance, Songwriting and Music Business students gracing the stage, including the acts DS 1, Novine Posch, Thomas & the Working Class, Niante, Montag Mania, Calypso, Min_t, Mohawk, Celine Love, Feline Eyes, Lisa Kogler, The Ztory, Alisa Mira and DJ Paloma Geronico.

BIMM Berlin College Principal, Nick Donovan, said the standard of performance on the night was second to none: “As someone with a number of years of experience in popular music education I have a large number of student-led performance nights and final year showcases under my belt, but I can hand-on-heart say that this year’s End-of-Term Gig was by far the highest quality show I’ve yet seen. The raw talent, quality of performance, variety of acts and level of musicianship was astounding. The night was an intense and celebratory experience; one which made all of us working at BIMM Berlin extremely proud and humble.”

The night’s host – BIMM tutor Shon Abram – was just as enamoured: “Over the last three terms I’ve had the pleasure of watching the students grow in confidence as performing artists. Not only did they perform the songs amazingly, but you were able to see their artistic endeavours emerge.”

BIMM Berlin Songwriting student, Martyna Kubicz, who performed with Min_t, said it was an exciting end to an unforgettable year: “Having the opportunity to perform at the End-of-Term Gig was splendid. The audience being full of professionals and industry people was a great motivation and such a fulfilling reward for the show.”

The End-of-Term Gig was a fantastic way to end BIMM’s first year in one of Europe’s most creative cities, and it was a truly fitting celebration for the tremendous achievements undertaken by staff, lecturers and, most importantly, our students. We couldn’t be more proud of them and we’d like to offer a huge congratulations to all who took part in this wonderfully successful gig. Roll on next year!
