2000TREES '17- HERE WE COME!

Talented BIMM artists will be on the bill at multi-award winning festival 2000trees for the fourth year as our students head back to the Cotswold Hills to run the Forest Sessions stage.

The 5000-capacity festival features three days of live music performed by more than 130 acts across five stages, with Slaves, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, The Wonder Years, Honey Blood, Mallory Knox, Pulled Apart By Horses, Dinosaur Pile-Up, and Will Varley among the top names announced this year.

Once again BIMM artists have the honour of programming the festival’s woodlands stage and will be bringing more acts than ever to perform at the magical event at Upcote Farm.

From Thursday, July 6 to Saturday, July 8, 26 artists will represent BIMM, including: Chay Snowdon, Harvey Causon, and Matt Wilson from Bristol; Carl J North, Nish Goyal, and IORA from Manchester; Charlie and the Villas, Chloe Leigh & The Willow Trio, and Miles Goodall from Brighton; Tom Dunne, Rye Millington, and Maella from London; Maria Kelly and For Foresters from Dublin; and Celine Love from London and Berlin.

Returning in 2017 to play on the opening night is BIMM Manchester’s Maddy Storm, who described her performance in 2016 as “the most wonderful time… I just wish I could do it all over again”.

The lucky line-up of BIMM students will perform stripped-back and acoustic versions of their work in the intimate live space, but they’ll also be assisted by up to 30 additional students chosen to take on crucial technical, admin, and production roles for the Forest Sessions (one from each college, except Dublin and Berlin).

Organiser Andy Rea said: “There are some outrageously talented BIMM acts coming through, so (it has not been easy?) for us to have a hand-picked shortlist of the very best to play at 2000trees.

“We had George Ezra playing an intimate forest set to under 100 people a few years ago, long before he was famous, so 2000trees really is the best place to discover your new favourite act.”

BIMM Manchester artist Martha Phillips said of her experience on the Forest Sessions stage: “I loved every minute of 2000trees, and I am so grateful for the experience. The vibe was incredible, and so was everyone involved.”
