End of Term gigs!!! (June 08)
The 2007/2008 academic year concluded to a thrilling finale, with some of the most talented, up-coming BIMM musicians taking to the stage for the ‘End of Term’ celebratory events. Gig-goers of Brighton ventured in their masses to the city’s Concorde 2 and Komedia venue to witness a highly anticipated double-dosage of rock and acoustic acts. Pioneering Kerrang! radio DJ ‘Loz’ took to the microphone as special guest presenter for the final night. With the honour of introducing the 60 acts our musicians performed a variety of classic covers as well as their own material. All profits made, including previous events, came to £4500 and were donated to local charity “Argus Appeal”. Chris Difford of Squeeze even popped by to present the cheque with BIMM musician Puff Gandolfo to local newspaper The Argus! He finally sang the Squeeze hit “Cool for Cats” which went down a storm.

BIMM Bristol’s Night of Drums (April 08)
On April 20th the sound of thundering drums on board the good ship Thekla in Bristol signaled the arrival of BIMM Bristol’s Night of Drums. Pro sticksmen James Hester (Malakia), Craig Blundell (Bruce Dickinson, King Crimson) and Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter/This Is Menace) gave 130 Bristol drummers and special guests from Rhythm Magazine and Drummer Magazine the chance to get up close and personal showing what hard work, practice and focus can achieve. James Hester demonstrated how to develop simple patterns into usable groove ideas. Craig Blundell wowed the audience with his ability to bend time signatures and Jason Bowld took the audience through double bass and solid beat development ideas. The trio concluded the night by playing a medley together which was simply incredible! And that’s not all, BIMM Bristol College Manager Mark Clayden (Pitchshifter/This Is Menace) gave away hundreds of pounds worth of Mapex gear to some very lucky winners.
