Course Overview
The BIMM Dublin CPD Diploma in Professional Musicianship (Performance) is a one-year programme comprised of three key modules from the BIMM Dublin BA Honours programme. It is an ideal course for anyone who wishes to further their musical abilities, but cannot make the commitment or lacks the entry requirements to undertake a full-time programme. This is a part-time (4.5 hours a week), one-year programme, aimed at musicians with semi-professional ability. It is designed to help you reach your full potential on Bass. The course is fully validated by the Dublin Institute of Technology, and students who successfully complete the Diploma will be awarded 30 ECTS credits. This may allow for progression to the BA programme.

Techniques
This module is designed to develop your technical ability in an applied way to push your Bass playing to the next level. A disciplined approach to regular practice is the key to success here, so the structuring of a focused and workable practice routine will be essential.
Styles
Styles-based performance workshops designed to increase your knowledge of the sounds and skills associated with different styles of music. This expertise is invaluable for anyone wishing to become a successful studio or touring musician. From Blues, Rock, Jazz, Motown, Soul R&B, Metal, Pop, Punk to Jazz Fusion - no stone is left unturned.
Music Theory and Notation
A comprehensive study of the theory behind the music, including practical applications of theoretical concepts. This module will also facilitate the development of basic sight-reading ability and chart writing skills, to better prepare you for the range of musical situations you're likely to encounter.
Entry Requirements
You will need to attend an audition so that we can get an idea of your current playing standard. We would expect you to demonstrate performance skills of a Grade 6 or equivalent standard on the Bass, as well as the ability to improvise at the same level. Applicants should be 17 on the 1st of January in the year of entry and should also have completed a module at Level 5. This is equivalent to Leaving Certificate or FETAC Level 5.
Fees
The course fees for 2013-2014 are €1,695 and these are payable directly to BIMM Dublin. A deposit of €300 will be required upon acceptance of a place.
CPD Diploma in Professional Musicianship
Students who successfully complete the CPD Diploma in Professional Musicanship will be awarded 30 ECTS credits.
