Phil is a busy gigging guitar player, recently appearing with Damon Albarn, Ginger Baker, legends of African music Hugh Masekela, Tony Allen and Mulatu Astatke as well as contemporary artists Akala, Ty, Natty, Shingai Shoniwa (Noisettes), Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Martina Topley Bird, Heliocentrics plus a huge variety of Brit Jazz and world music projects. He has played for shows at the National Theatre and Sadlers Wells, and performed at some of the world’s most highly regarded festivals including Glastonbury, Reading, Montreux Jazz and various WOMADs.
He has gained much recording experience working for major labels such as Sony Music, Polygram, EMI, Island, Parlophone and Warners, playing on a wide range of successful tracks including a USA No. 1, a FIFA World Cup theme and several UK chart Top 20s.
Phil is also an experienced writer and producer, with releases on Sony BMG and a variety of niche labels.
