Richard Parfitt - Songwriting Masterclass - 04th May '12

Richard Parfitt joined us at BIMM Bristol for a songwriting masterclass on the afternoon of Friday 04th May. He delivered a hilarious insight into the mind of a professional songwriter and touring session musician. The event was hosted by our very own Head of Music Business, Cliff Jones.
 
Richard has sold in excess of a million records, with recent songwriting and production credits that include Duffy (A&M 2008) and Universal Films (2009). As a session musician he has worked with: Dido, Bernard Butler, Urge Overkill, John Squire and Lene Marlin.
 
Richard was first signed to Zomba Music Publishing as a house writer from 1986 to 1989 writing mainly for TV and film. In 1995 he signed a major publishing deal with Sony Music where he wrote and delivered three top 40 singles and one top 40 album. In 1996 Richard signed to Geffen Records as an artist, and is at present, signed to Kobalt Music Publishers. As well as extensive writing credits he has worldwide live and touring experience including the USA, Japan and Europe. Festival appearances include Glastonbury, T In The Park, V and Reading. Tour supports with: The Jam, Ash, Oasis, Sex Pistols, Ian Brown, The Lemonheads and McAlmont & Butler.
