bimm student testimonials
Check out some of the things our past and present students say about BIMM.

"Attending Bimm was brilliant...it enabled me to spend a whole year mixing, studying and socialising with like minded people and musicians. It was such an inspiring time for all of us!"
Kate Walsh - 2005/2006 Higher Diploma Songwriting Musician

"I know for a fact I would never have been in the position I am now if I didn’t go to BIMM, so many thanks to all the teaching staff who have helped me on my musical journey."
Samuel Wilson - 2005/2006 Higher Diploma Drums

"What I will say is that so far I’ve had auditions at BIMM Bristol and after the Bristol assessment, I can’t see much point in going anywhere else. The course there sounds amazing and the tutors I’ve met so far were really great guys and seemed very dedicated towards making the college and course the absolutely nuts. "
Adam G - Prospective Student

"I am writing to you to say a big thank you. My name is Natalie Chahal, I am on the professional diploma songwriting course and I am also the front person of the band "BANGBANGBANG!" I have just finished recording for the BIMM album with Mark Flannery and I had such a great time. The whole experience was really enjoyable and laid back. It was exciting to work with such an expert in their field. In fact my entire time at BIMM so far has been really great. I have gained so much knowledge and experience via gigging and recording over these last two terms, which would not have been the same if I didn’t join BIMM. I am a very hardworking and focused musician, and BIMM has helped give me direction so I can achieve my future goals of being in a successful band. So I just wanted to take some time out to say thank you for the opportunity to feature on the BIMM album and thanks for making my year at BIMM one to remember. I look forward to making the most out of this last term."
Natalie Chahal - 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 BIMM Musician

"I have been at BIMM only a few weeks now and already I feel extremely involved, I’ve stuck by a quote that I was told on my first day by Ace, which was "the harder you work, the luckier you get", which is very true! One thing I have tried to remain passionate about is my confidence in my own ability and the lecturers here don’t for one second let you forget where you are and also that we’re all in it to help each other, it never feels like a competition which is a great feeling of camaraderie. I look forward to the many more opportunities that will open up for me here at BIMM."
Chris Boot - 2007/2008 Professional Diploma Drums

"Being asked to help out on this (Air Traffic) tour gave me a sense of pride and encouragement that if you work hard at something it will pay off. It is nice to see all the effort and support I had at BIMM has offered me this first step in my career. I worked hard and proved to myself that this is what I want to do. I made amazing friends and great contacts in the workplace. I look forward to what’s to come in the very near future. "
Steve Black - 2006/2007 Live Sound and Tour Management Student

"When I started the course at BIMM, I loved songwriting, but had very little idea how to put it to practical use. One year in, my band has a record deal, has played Glastonbury and has headlined the Isle of Wight festival. There is no way I would have achieved anything close to this without the support and experience of my tutors. BIMM will not make you a rockstar. What it will do is provide you with the necessary knowledge and training to make a career in the music industry a real possibility. The old adage is that those who can’t teach. The difference is that at BIMM, they HAVE. The tutors have a massive amount of experience between them, and you can learn so much in the classroom and also from a quick chat or tutorial in between lessons "
Dominic Arnall - BIMM BA Student

"Going to this college with only a mild knowledge of the industry and average playing ability was quite daunting, but i was willing to learn and, I think, got the most out of my experience. From day one it struck me how experienced the lecturers and guests were at the college. I knew that any questions or problems i had would be sorted out by some one who knew exactly what they were dealing with. At this time aswell, it was a fairly small establishment so there was a real family atmosphere amongst the students and lecturers which gave me confidence and helped me settle in quickly. Through out the year , my playing ability improved ten fold. Studying your instrument for at least two hours a day plus practice at home makes hard not to. The live performance workshop gave me great advice on working the stage and interacting with musicians i didn’t really know well. Session styles not only braodened my knowledge and playing style but my cd collection too, and i feel i know alot more about different genres and players than ever. The industry lectures gave me information that i have taken with me and use daily in the band i am in now. All in all, if you want a stepping stone into the industry and make some great friends and contacts along the way, it has to be one of the best places to be!!! "
Dave Neale - Rooster

"BIMM is one of the coolest places to study Music in the World! Right by the sea, and full of interesting people who all have a real passion for music! I loved it and wish i could still wake up every morning and go be taught how to do what i LOVE!"
Beth Rowley - Vocalist for Ronan Keating

"I’d just like to thank you for the opportunity to learn at BIMM, and to say how incredibly impressed I was with the quality of tutors and the success and professionalism you produce."
Laurence Malpass - 2008/2009 Professional Diploma Song Writing
