Metropolis Studios - Mastering and Recording Masterclass

Miles Showell and Crispin Murray from Metropolis Mastering came into BIMM Brighton to deliver a Masterclass in Mastering.

Miles and Crispin have over 50 years experience combined and have worked on some of the greatest recordings of all time (Led Zeppelin, Doves, Queen and the Rolling Stones). The pair shared some invaluable insights into the process of mastering and how to make your recordings sound better. The top tips were to record your music at the highest bit rate you can (24bits), pre mastering make your recordings are as loud as possible avoid too much compression and attend the mastering session as you will learn a lot about your music! They advised to keep 3 or 4 versions of your mixes in different places so you don’t lose them amongst many other tips.

There were great anecdotes and some fabulous claims to fame such as Crispin having Cher trod on his foot twice!
