Session Drummer Karl Brazil with Former England Footballer Dion Dublin!

Session drummer extraordinaire Karl Brazil talked about the valuable points it takes to succeed as a professional musician. He looked at discipline, practice, improvisation and versatility. Karl gave some great tips on how to get ahead in the music industry and stressed the key professional attributes needed - the importance of being approachable and friendly, punctuality and preparation. He demonstrated several approaches to performing a variety of different styles. Using examples from albums he’s played on and artists he performs with, including Take That, Feeder and James Blunt.

A Q&A session wrapped up the masterclass by way of a percussive jam with Former English Footballer Dion Dublin! Karl played out with some of our students whilst Dion exclusively performed on the dube - a percussion instrument that was created by him!
